"Black Women Use Lace Wigs/Wigs To Validate Their Beauty"

Sigh.

If you watch women of color on YouTube and they are applying lace wigs and weaves to their heads, you've probably seen the comment above.

Yes, the secret is out. Black women don't and can't feel beautiful without gluing some beautiful straight european tresses to our scalps. I'm so sick of seeing this rubbish, it physically makes me ill when I see it.

There are plenty of videos with White and Hispanic wearing weaves and no one seems to bat an eyelash when they do it.

It's almost if the world enjoy making black women feel like crap while celebrating other races for doing things to "enhance" their beauty. When we do it, we are shamed for it. When they do it, it's an "accessory".

The Kardashians' are some of the most photographed women in the world and they frequently wear weaves. Again, no one seems to care. I saw a video where a white woman was sporting a thirty inch weave and in the comments section almost everyone high-fived her and told her she was so pretty! While her weave was nicely done, I can't help but to think what the comment section would be like if a black woman  sported the same weave.

I didn't have to scroll long before I found the negativity. Even though her extensions are completely gorgeous, it didn't take long for the insults to roll in. God it's difficult at times living in this world as a woman of color. If you wear weaves, you hate yourself. You want to be white. If you wear your natural hair, then you need to go get a perm or a straightening comb. The brothers say they want a natural woman but go for the women with long and straight tresses.

What's a girl to do?

Keep on doing you my beautiful sistas. We can rock our hair straight, nappy, natural, and curly like everyone else. Our hair does what no other hair can do. If I want my hair to stand straight up in the air, I can do so without heavy gels and pomades.

Wear your hair with pride. F*&^ everyone else who don't like it.
