Braids are a cornerstone of black hair today. Braids are a great identifier within our community. However, if you braid your hair too tight you can damage your hair to the point of no return. When it comes to braids, especially Microbraids, if the hair is done too tightly you will experience hair loss. 

Some styles are detrimental to our hair but they look good. Braiding the hair too tightly to the point where you need aspirin is overkill.  Also when you get braids, the extra hair is heavy and it will break already fragile hair off. These styles must be done by professionals to reduce breakage.
